Hello and welcome to Builders Lounge, a private community that fosters a friendly atmosphere of creative freedom for LEGO builders through constructive criticism, input, and the continuing development of building skills.
Here are the basic guidelines and Code of Conduct which this community operates on:
- Be respectful toward fellow members. Although being a legal adult is not a requirement to join Builders Lounge, knowing how to behave like an adult in an online context -- with civility, respect, and maturity -- is an absolute requirement. Maturity includes the ability to communicate in complete sentences with a minimum of Internet slang. We encourage having fun, of course, but we do not condone having it at another member’s expense.
- Be respectful towards non-members. Membership in Builders Lounge is limited to experienced LEGO builders with positive attitudes. As a member of a private community, it is important to remember that taking pride in membership is encouraged, but flaunting it is unnecessary. Unless members have taken prior approval from the staff members, discussion content from the Builders Lounge including all members' issues should not be made public.
- There may be times when we disagree or don't get along, but that doesn't mean we can’t be civil. We expect a level of civility among the members. Tolerance is key to a positive and productive online experience. Remember, it is okay to agree to disagree. If you must, share your concerns in private first. You may experience situations with a fellow member or administrator that make you unhappy or uncomfortable. Please consider contacting the person through private message. If you feel the issue is not then resolved to your satisfaction, please bring the issue to an Administrator, who will then assess the situation with the rest of the Administrators here and take the appropriate action(s). If the situation involves Administrators (who are, after all, human too), do not hesitate to contact other Administrators.
- Help recruit new members. If you know someone who you feel would be a good fit for Builders Lounge -- both as a LEGO builder and a person -- don't hesitate to suggest that person to an Administrator. Potential new members should be experienced LEGO builders who are regularly active in the online LEGO fan community and who demonstrate the civility, maturity, and respect that Builders’ Lounge expects from its current members.
Recruitment Prospects will be chosen based on the following:
a) Membership is mainly giving through an invitation from an administrator or a recommendation from an active member via an administrator.
b) Membership will be granted to candidates whose work demonstrate experienced building skills and whose attitude conveys positivity and friendliness.
c) If you wish to join this group, please contact first an administrator directly (Preferably through an email or a Flickr email), and submit with your inquiry three MOCs which you feel it's your best work to date. Also explain how did you find about this group and why you're interested in becoming a member... We'll contact you only when your application is approved, or if we have something to discuss with you regarding your application.
- Build! Builders Lounge is for active LEGO builders who are interested in discussing the hobby and improving their skills. Although Builders Lounge recognizes that real life always comes first, if you haven't posted any new creations in six months to a year, you may be contacted by an Administrator regarding your ‘active builder’ status.
- Repercussions. Please note that these policies are intended to be pro-active for the unanticipated event that something should happen that makes them necessary. If a member is found to be conducting in the Lounge or elsewhere when representing the Lounge in a manner deemed to be in direct contention of the CoC, the appropriate steps will be taken to contain and limit those actions. This will be done through a Three Strike Policy. The first offense may warrant a reprimand from Administrators. The second offense may warrant a temporary suspension from the Lounge, up to three months maximum, depending on the offense. The third offense may warrant full dismissal from Builders Lounge.
Notes about the new Code of Conduct:
- This Code of Conduct is retroactive for all current members. By choosing to continue as a member and participate on the site, you indicate that you have read and agreed to these new guidelines.
- Members and Builders Lounge staff are all equally bound by these guidelines. Members should expect from staff the same ethical behavior staff expect from members.
- Builders Lounge staff have an additional commitment to our members to be open and transparent about decisions that affect Builders Lounge and its members. When appropriate, major decisions will be brought before members for discussion.
- In the interest of openness and transparency, members are welcome to question and discuss these guidelines. However, Builders Lounge does reserve the right to ask a member to leave should that member repeatedly fail to observe the current guidelines defined in the Code of Conduct.
- Builders Lounge reserves the right to amend and adjust the CoC as needed.
- All decisions of the Builders Lounge staff are final.
